How to get to San Miguel
1
QUERÉTARO — QRO
The closest way in
About an hour from San Miguel de Allende, Querétaro International Airport is the closest airport to town.
Getting to San Miguel:
Private transfers and rental cars are available directly from the airport. For a more budget-friendly option, you can take a bus from the airport to the Querétaro Bus Terminal, then connect to San Miguel de Allende. ETN operates several daily departures between Querétaro and San Miguel.
A little heads-up for our late-night travelers!
If your flight arrives in the evening, especially between 10:00 and 11:00 PM, we strongly recommend arranging your transportation well in advance.
Transportation options can be limited late at night, so having your ride confirmed before traveling will make your arrival much smoother.
BEST FOR:
A shorter trip to San Miguel and an easy connection from central Mexico.
2
LEÓN / GUANAJUATO — BJX
Another easy way in
Bajío International Airport is another convenient option for reaching San Miguel, especially if you find a better flight into León.
Getting to San Miguel:
Private transfers and rental cars are available from the airport. Bus travel is also possible, although it may require a connection depending on the schedule, so we recommend checking current routes before traveling.
BEST FOR:
More flight options while still landing relatively close to San Miguel.
3
MEXICO CITY — MEX
More flights, more flexibility
Mexico City offers the widest range of domestic and international flights, making it a great option for guests coming from farther away.
Getting to San Miguel:
You can book a private transfer, rent a car, or travel by bus. ETN operates direct service between Mexico City’s Terminal Norte and San Miguel de Allende, with several departures each day; the trip is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. ETN also currently lists airport connections between AICM and San Miguel, so it’s worth checking schedules for your travel dates.
BEST FOR:
International travelers, more flight choices, or anyone planning to spend a few days in Mexico City too.
PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
IMPORTANT: Please book your airport transfer at least 72 hours (3 days) before your scheduled arrival. Last-minute reservations may not be available, particularly for late-night flights.
Offers shared and private transportation between Querétaro Airport and San Miguel de Allende, with direct service to your accommodation.
A few things to keep in mind:
-
Reserve your transportation at least 72 hours in advance.
-
Confirm that your provider can accommodate your flight's arrival time, especially for late-night arrivals.
-
Share your flight number and hotel or Airbnb address when booking.
-
Ask where your driver will meet you and what happens if your flight is delayed.
Our recommendation: For late-night arrivals, a pre-booked private transfer is often the easiest and most convenient option, especially if you're traveling with family or friends.
A little planning goes a long way! We want your arrival in San Miguel to be as smooth and stress-free as possible, so you can simply relax and enjoy the celebration!
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Private transportation is convenient, but it isn’t your only option. Mexico has a comfortable intercity bus network, and traveling by bus can be an easy and more budget-friendly way to reach San Miguel. We recommend checking schedules and purchasing tickets in advance once your flights are confirmed.
